Introduction

Basic information: Hurstpierpoint College is an independent co-ed day and boarding school, based near the village of Hurstpierpoint in West Sussex. Established in 1849, it is a member of the Woodard Corporation and caters for approximately 1,090 pupils. [1

Curriculum: In its Prep Division, Hurst offers a broad education, underpinned by a balanced curriculum that includes English, mathematics, Latin, French and IT. The teaching environment is characterised by high expectations, successfully blending traditional and modern methods as crucial to the quality of the learning experience.

Co-curricular: The wealth of activities on offer includes outdoor pursuits, artistic and creative opportunities and a number of academic clubs. Pupils are encouraged to test their limitations, thus they enthusiastically engage in street dance, crafts, Scientists of the Future, coding, waterpolo and Ninjutsu, among others, making the most out of the school’s inclusive offering. [2]

ISI Inspection report: The ISI recently inspected Hurst and established that the quality of pupils’ overall achievements there is ‘excellent’. The school received this rating for all the other areas of its provision, as well, securing its strong reputation and good name through effective governance and a robust educational strategy. [3]

The Hurst welcoming ethos is at the heart of that strategy, aiming to produce courteous and articulate individuals who will make smart life choices through careful consideration. Setting them on a path that’s right for them, Hurst instils in children a good sense of the world, ensuring that they navigate it with confidence.
