Introduction
Ratcliffe College is a co-educational, independent boarding and day school in the village of Ratcliffe on the Wreake, Leicestershire. Occupying 100 acres, the campus is home to the cricket ground used by the college cricket team. The recent ISI inspection for the school rated Ratcliffe College as ’excellent’ in all assessed areas. The curriculum in the Prep School covers the core subjects of English, mathematics and science, enhanced with lessons for religious education, art & design, geography, history and ICT. Specialist teaching is provided for music, art, MFL, Latin, drama, PE and games.
The co-curricular offer is rich in diversity, aiming to introduce children to as many activities as possible. The programme covers everything from meditation, music theory, LAMDA and Quiz Club to yoga, swimming, ballet and fencing.

Open Mornings offer the opportunity to meet key members of staff, tour the different departments on campus and hear an address from the Head.
You can also schedule an individual visit (of similar format) on a normal school day.
Ratcliffe College 7 Plus (7+) Admissions
7+ assessments take place in late January of the calendar year of entry. Your child’s numeracy and literacy skills will be assessed and school reports will be requested. Please note that priority will be given to Catholic families and families sympathetic to the school’s Catholic ethos.
Registration includes a payment of a non-refundable Registration Fee of £99. To accept an offer, you will be asked to pay a £1000 deposit, held until your child leaves the school. Parents of Catholic students will also be asked to send their child’s copy of a baptism certificate.

The Ratcliffe College 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:
- English
- Mathematics
The English exam tests comprehension and writing skills, including inference, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and oral skills.
The Maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including their knowledge of times tables.
