Introduction

 

Saint Felix School is a co-educational, independent, day and boarding school in Reydon, Southwold in Suffolk. Over 120 years old, the school was originally established with the aim of educating girls.

 

The contemporary curriculum covers English, mathematics, science, art & design, classics, design & technology, drama, geography, history, languages, music, physical education, PSHEE & citizenship, religious education and STEM.

 

Extracurricular activities include various sporting clubs from the more traditional Rugby and Hockey to fencing and shooting, along with an array of others such as Chess Club, Drama and Film Club.

 

Saint Felix School maximises pupils’ potential in line with academic, sporting and creative achievements while encouraging positive human relationships among them. The school holds two Open Mornings on Saturday mornings and one on a weekday morning.

Personal visits can also be arranged, during which you will meet the Head and relevant staff and have a tour of the school.

 

Saint Felix School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

 

Registration for the 11+ exam is through a Registration Form, to be completed and submitted along with a £100 registration fee. 

 

Your child will then be invited for a Taster Session and some assessments. They can take the entrance exam on this day, or sit the examinations scheduled in January. There will also be an interview with the Head.

 

Offers are accepted by submitting an Acceptance Form and a payment of refundable deposit.

 

Saint Felix School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

 

The school awards Academic Scholarships to outstanding applicants following competitive academic examination papers. The value of the award is up to 50% of the fees.

 

Academic Exhibitions are awarded to candidates who show promise but have not quite reached the standard demanded of scholars. The maximum value of exhibitions is 25% of the fees.

 

Margaret Isabella Gardiner Scholarship is a prestigious award, worth up to 75% of

the fees, awarded only to an applicant of sufficiently high calibre and not necessarily on an annual basis.

 

Drama Scholarships are awarded on the basis of an audition and are valued at up to 50% of the fees.

 

Music Scholarships and Exhibitions are awarded to candidates who demonstrate exceptional musical talent and ability in an audition, viva and an interview with the Head of Music and relevant members of the music staff. They cover up to 50% of the fees.

Performing Arts Awards, valued at up to 50% of the fees, are open to candidates who excel in at least two of the following disciplines:

 

– Drama

– Dance

– Music (including singing)

 

Sports Awards are awarded to applicants with an exceptional talent in Athletics, Cricket, Cross-Country, Football, Hockey, Netball, Rugby or Tennis (other sports may also be considered). The maximum award given will be 50% of the fees. Click here for more information about scholarships.

 

The school offers bursaries only to parents of a current pupil who experience temporary financial difficulties. However, they do offer Parent/Grandparent Remissions for siblings, Remissions for children of staff, Remissions for the children of Old Felicians and Remissions for Service families.

 

Saint Felix School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format

 

The Saint Felix School 11+ exam consists of the following papers:

 

  • English 
  • Mathematics

 

The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.

 

The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
