Redmaids’ High School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Your daughter must be registered in order to sit examinations and be considered for scholarship or bursary awards. The registration form can be found on the school’s website. Note that late applicants will be considered only at the discretion of the Headmistress.
The admissions process includes an interview with the Headmistress, held prior to the Entrance Examination, and involves a short presentation on a subject of your daughter’s choice. A Head Teacher’s reference from her current school will also be requested.
Exams will take place in small groups in classrooms with breaks included. By taking the exam, your daughter will automatically be considered for an Academic Scholarship.
The results will be posted to you by the end of January, whilst acceptance of offers needs to be done prior to the deadline published on the school’s website (in March).
Scholarships are available to girls who demonstrate potential, a dedication to learning and ambition in any subject. The school awards a number of Academic Scholarships to the top-performing girls in the Year 7 entrance exam, and no means-testing is involved.
Redmaids’ also offers Music and Sports scholarships. Applications for these scholarships must be made by a specified deadline.
The school offers a number of fully and partially-funded places, with most bursaries covering up to 50% of the fees, and two covering 100% – the John Whitson Award and the Florence Edith Rowbotham Award.
They are means-tasted and are awarded on the basis of your income and the value of your capital assets.
The Headmistress awards are offered to girls who excel in one area of the entrance exam, or who show particular potential. For more information about bursaries and the deadline for applying, please visit the school’s website.
