Introduction

 

Aldwickbury School is an independent preparatory school for boys located on the outskirts of Harpenden, Hertfordshire. Dating back to 1937, the school educates over 350 pupils. [1]

 

The curriculum is well balanced and broad, including maths, English, science, IT, MFL, geography, history, RS, PSCHEE, PE, art and DT.

 

After classes, pupils engage in sports, drama and musical pursuits as part of Aldwickbury’s abundant extra-curricular programme. The school provides a range of opportunities aimed at meeting children’s varied interests, including orchestra, violin club, athletics, swimming, LAMDA and tennis.

The Open Morning events allow visiting families to familiarise themselves with the school’s ethos & facilities and meet senior and teaching staff members. Tours are typically led by current pupils, preceded by a speech from the Head.

 

Aldwickbury School 7 Plus (7+) Admissions

 

Registration will put your child’s name on the list for the 7+ assessments. These take place in January of the calendar year of entry, assessing your child’s numeracy and literacy skills. The registration fee of £100 is non-refundable. 

 

If your child has been offered a place, you will be asked to secure it with a payment of a £1000 deposit, refunded in your child’s last term at the school.

The school offers means-tested bursaries to Year 3 applicants on the basis of their strong performance in interviews and English, Maths & Reasoning examinations, as well as positive school reports and references.  

 

Parents will be asked to complete and submit a ‘Confidential Statement of Financial Circumstances’ form and write a supporting letter, outlining the reasons for the application.
