Redmaids’ High School 7 Plus (7+) Entrance Exam Information – Key Details
Table of Contents
Redmaids’ High School is an independent school for girls in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol. Although the Junior School and Senior School are separate, they jointly use (most of) the facilities, including an indoor sports hall and two netball/tennis courts.
In Year 3, the Junior School curriculum provides lessons for maths, English, science, humanities, French, art & DT and music, while the teaching for computer science is integrated in other subjects or within a specific topic.
The extracurricular provision is balanced and stimulating, equipping girls with a range of skills and abilities which serve them well in the years to come. Within the broad programme, they get to choose from athletics, ballet, book club, choir, dance class, fencing, music theory, ukulele and writers’ workshop, among others.
The pastoral care system is effectively contributing to the friendly atmosphere characterising this relatively small school. Parents and staff actively collaborate in the efforts to secure girls’ well-being, adding up to the warmth of the school’s community where ‘everybody knows everyone’.
In line with this and the powerful motto ‘So Hateth She Derknesse’, Redmaids’ High enlightens girls (from a wide range of backgrounds) with knowledge, both academic and non-academic, and encourages them to use their all-round skills for the benefit of their communities.
