Introduction
Red House School is a co-educational, independent school in Norton, Stockton-on-Tees. It was founded in 1929 by a group of parents with the aim of providing the best education possible for their children. Recently, Red House achieved a 99% A*-C grade across all GCSE results.
Pupils study art, design & technology, sciences, religious studies, physical education, music, modern languages, mathematics, computing, English, history and geography. The co-curricular programme further enriches the learning experience at Red House through activities such as drama, orchestra, public speaking, chess and the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, as well as foreign language courses such as Russian and Mandarin.

Open Morning takes place in January and typically consists of a speech from the Head and a tour of facilities. Red House School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Eleven plus entry is dependent upon performance in an assessment and interview, as well as the quality of your child’s current-school reference. The assessment is designed to assess potential and is taken during Taster Day.
Registration requires paying a £25 fee, which is non-refundable. Offers of places are made depending on availability. Please note that acceptance of a place in Year 7 includes a payment of a deposit.
Red House School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Red House offers bursaries to children from low-income families. In order for the school to determine the level of assistance required, bursaries are entirely means-tested. Please note that the evaluation procedure will include a review of documented evidence relating to family income, assets and expenditure.
If you are interested in applying for a bursary, you are advised by the school to speak to the Head of Finance & Compliance at an early stage of the admissions process. Red House School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Red House School 11+ exam consists of the following assessments:
- Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4)
- English paper
- Maths paper
The CAT4 aims to assess developed abilities via modules testing Verbal, Non-Verbal, Spatial and Quantitative Reasoning.
The English paper is likely to examine both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation.
The maths exam will assess your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
