Introduction
Basic information: Norwich High School for Girls is an independent school in Norwich. Established in 1875, it is a member of the GDST network of girls’ day schools. As such, it consistently produces some of the most competitive academic results in East Anglia. [1]
Curriculum: The Prep School offers stimulating core and specialist curricula, allowing children to unlock their potential while making the most out of the engaging lessons on offer. The broad provision maximises their qualifications in the areas of mathematics, languages, music, science and PSHE, among others, catering for their needs to thoroughly explore their strengths and means of expression.
Co-curricular: Pupils at the Prep also benefit from a rich range of sporting facilities, including a 25-metre indoor heated swimming pool, tennis courts and an astro-turf pitch. Music and performance are the essence of school life, thus concerts and art-related events are organised on a regular basis, allowing girls to showcase their talents and abilities. [2] [3]
Pastoral care: This segment of the school’s offering is considered crucial to the well-being and success of each child on campus, thus staff invest extensive efforts in ensuring that its standard is of the highest quality. Through the Believing in Butterflies (pastoral) initiative, pupils learn that they are small parts of a big community, yet fully capable of making a positive difference in other people’s lives. [4]
Underpinned by a friendly atmosphere, the Norwich High’s welcoming ethos ensures positive relationships and a celebration of both achievement and effort. Girls are encouraged to take risks in their study and question matters of academic interest all throughout their learning experience, stretching their abilities to suit the school’s tradition of success that spans over 145 years.
