Introduction

Sherborne Girls is an independent day and boarding school in Sherborne, North Dorset. Operational since 1899, it boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool, a number of tennis courts, a fitness suite and a climbing wall. [1]

Academically, the school comprehensively caters for pupils’ needs for intellectual exploration. The range of disciplines includes humanities, technology, languages and natural sciences, promoting interdisciplinary learning and fostering a spirit of enquiry while grounding girls in a profound understanding of the wider world’s complexities.

Non-academically, the school’s provision is characterised by high standards. Besides offering a varied co-curricular programme, the establishment is dedicated to nurturing the well-being of each girl on campus through extensive pastoral care. Sherborne Girls’ genuinely holistic approach to educating is evident in its efforts to provide plenty of opportunities for girls to engage in volunteering and charitable outreach projects, maximising their sense of compassion and their love of giving back to their communities. [2]

Clubs and societies include Business Basics, Rocket Science, Model United Nations, ceramics and astronomy. Drama is very popular, as Sherborne Girls provides superb amenities for theatrical endeavours. For enthusiasts in this domain, the school hosts an annual inter-house drama competition, allowing participants to maximise their transferable skills while having a great time.
