Introduction
Mount Kelly College, set on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, is a coeducational day and boarding school. Its roots can be traced back to the late 1860s, when Admiral Benedictus Marwood Kelly initiated the founding of a school for the ‘sons of naval officers and other gentlemen’.
The curriculum comprises geography, history, art, Latin, drama, design technology, computer science, philosophy, religion & ethics, music and PE, in addition to the core subjects.
The extra-curricular activities at Mount Kelly complement the core academic curriculum through drama, music, art, sports, Combined Cadet Force, Duke of Edinburgh, journalism, debating and public speaking, along with the Ten Tors Challenge, the Exmoor Challenge and the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Marathon.

Open Events for Mount Kelly Prep School 11 Plus (11+) Entry
The school’s Open Days are set in September and October each year. They include a tour of the campus and meetings with the Head and teaching staff. Mount Kelly Prep School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Following the visit to the school, if you wish to register your child for Year 7 entry, you should fill in a registration form available on the school’s website. This form should be submitted with a fee of £100.
The school will also seek evidence of good conduct from your child’s present school in the form of a report. Upon receipt of a positive report, they will be invited to sit entrance examinations.
The results of the examinations, in conjunction with the school reports, will determine whether or not your child will receive an offer of a place.
Mount Kelly Prep School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Academic scholarships are not available to Year 7 entry applicants. However, you can apply for a bursary on behalf of your child. Please note that these awards are means-tested and offered following a thorough evaluation of your financial circumstances.
Bursaries are re-assessed annually. This may result in an increase/decrease in the value of the award, subject to changes in your finances or the school’s means.
Mount Kelly Prep School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Mount Kelly Prep School entrance assessment consists of written tests in the following subjects:

- Mathematics
The English paper focuses on both writing and comprehension skills, including spelling, grammar and inference.
The maths exam tests pupils’ problem-solving and arithmetic skills. The paper will include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
