Lewes Old Grammar School (LOGS) is an independent co-educational day school in Lewes, East Sussex. With historical links to the educational trust established upon the will of Agnes Morley in 1512, LOGS may arguably be the 38th oldest school in England.

Lewes Old Grammar School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Entry to Lewes Old Grammar School is based upon academic merit, assessed through an entry examination, an interview and references from your child’s current school.
You are advised by LOGS to register by the end of the first week of November. Your child will then be invited to attend a Taster Day.
The Entrance Examinations test their skills in three areas. On the grounds of their performance in the examination, the school may offer a Scholarship.
Lewes Old Grammar School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
At 11+, LOGS provides scholarships for excellence in Academic subjects, Music, Sport and Other (at the discretion of the Headmaster).
Outstanding performers in the entrance examinations will be considered for an Academic Scholarship. The award is valid for the duration of your child’s time at the school. In addition to sitting the entrance examination papers, they will also take an intelligence test.
Music Awards are awarded to outstanding musicians on the basis of a specialist reference from their current Head of music and a reference from their Headmaster. They will be
be expected to complete a written paper, together with aural and practical tests, attend an interview and perform an audition. Music Awards are only awarded to pupils who have passed the school’s entrance examination.
Sports Awards are awarded to outstanding candidates who have achieved a high level of competence in 2 or more sports. They will be assessed through an interview and a specialist reference from their current director of sport. The awards are also only awarded to pupils who have passed the school’s entrance examination.
LOGS All Rounder Awards are offered to pupils who fall just short of the scholarship critieria. These are awarded at the discretion of the Headmaster.
The school offers means-tested awards to parents who have indicated on the registration form that they are in need of financial support. In line with this, you will be expected to provide proof of income and assets. Bursaries are reviewed annually and may vary, depending on your financial circumstances.
Post–entry bursaries are available to pupils whose families suffer unexpected financial difficulties and can no longer pay the full fees. These are valid until the family’s financial situation improves, or until the pupil leaves, whichever is the sooner. For more information, please contact the school’s finance office.

The Lewes Old Grammar School 11+ entrance examination consists of the following tests:
- Verbal Reasoning
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily designed to test and assess their logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
