Haberdashers’ Boys’ School 13 Plus (13+) Deferred Admissions
As part of the 13+ admissions process for deferred entry, you need to register your child with the school by the November deadline (in Year 6). In this way, your son will be considered for the entrance examinations and interviews, taking place in December and January, respectively.
The entrance tests consist of an online assessment, which is considered to be a First Round exam. In Round Two, your son will be invited to the school to meet with a senior staff member and discuss his non-academic interests and passions. Please note that only selected candidates are invited to attend the Round Two interviews.
Habs Boys 13 Plus (13+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Habs Boys extends a variety of scholarships to 13+ applicants, including Academic, Art, Design Technology (DT), Music, Drama and Sports awards. Academic Scholarships, valued at 10-20% of fees, are offered to the highest-scoring candidates in the entrance exams and interview. There’s no need to apply separately for these.
Art Scholarships are based on a portfolio review and strong entrance exam performance. The portfolio should contain between six and 20 pieces of artwork. If your son performs well, he may be invited for a further assessment in the form of an interview.
For DT Scholarships, the selection process looks into your son’s entrance exam performance and involves a portfolio review and an interview. Drama Scholarships are offered based on an audition, practical workshop and interview.
As one of the top-performing Music Divisions nationally, Habs awards Music Scholarships on the grounds of auditions and interviews to students who’ve passed the entrance exam. Sports Scholarships are offered on the basis of references from your son’s current sports coach, Headteacher, PE teacher, or Director of Sport. There will also be a trial to evaluate his sports skills and spatial awareness.
To families who need financial assistance, Habs provides bursaries, awarded after evaluating a confidential statement of their financial situation. Bursaries are means-tested and reviewed every year, and can cover up to 100% of the fees, including expenses like meals, trips and other additional costs.
