Introduction
The Royal College of Elizabeth, better known as Elizabeth College, is an independent school for boys in Saint Peter Port, Guernsey. Founded in 1563, it has educated many notable alumni, including an Olympic gold medallist and four Victoria Cross recipients. [1]
In the Junior School, also known as Beechwood Prep, pupils have access to a broad range of subject areas and benefit from an excellent teaching provision, as well as a curriculum that is tailored to meet their individual needs. Parents and their children are welcome to visit the school’s campus throughout the year. Junior School tours, which can be booked through the Headteacher’s Secretary, typically consist of meetings with current pupils and teachers, as well as a presentation by the Head, and refreshments.

Registration includes a payment of a £110 non-refundable fee. Once registered, your child will be invited to the school for assessments.
If offered, a place is accepted with a payment of a deposit, refunded in your child’s last term at the school.
Beechwood Prep 7 Plus (7+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Scholarships and bursaries are only available to Senior School applicants.

The Beechwood Prep 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:
- English
- Mathematics
- Verbal Reasoning
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
The English exam tests comprehension and writing skills, including inference, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and oral skills.
The Maths exam assesses problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including your child’s knowledge of times tables.
The Verbal Reasoning exam is designed to test and assess your child’s logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning test measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
