Introduction

 

The Royal College of Elizabeth, better known as Elizabeth College, is an independent day school in Saint Peter Port, Guernsey. Founded in 1563 by royal charter from Queen Elizabeth I, it is one of the oldest public schools in the British Isles and the oldest in the Channel Islands.

 

The Year 7 curriculum covers English, mathematics, sciences, religious studies, art & design, business studies, classics, computer science, drama, geography, history, Latin, MFL, music and physical education.

 

Extracurricular activities range from Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess and Climbing, to Combined Cadet Force, Cricket, Debating, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and Life Saving.

 

Through the provision of a strong and broad education, the school aims to ensure that pupils achieve the best results possible whilst developing a genuine love of learning. Elizabeth College 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

 

If you wish to register your child for Year 7 entry, you should complete the registration form and return it to the school together with a non-refundable fee of £110. A current-school report will also be requested.

 

Offers of places are subject to successful performance in the entrance assessment, held in October of the year preceding entry. The assessment consists of online tests that assess your child’s reasoning abilities. Please note that, on acceptance of a place, a £500 deposit is payable.

 

Elizabeth College 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

 

There are a number of bursaries and scholarships available to pupils entering Year 7. Gibson Fleming Bursaries are means-tested awards that provide financial support for pupils who wish to take part in ‘additional’ school activities which might otherwise be unaffordable. 

 

Gibson Fleming Music Scholarships are awarded (based on auditions held in January) to talented and accomplished musicians and singers. OEA Awards cover a percentage of the cost of adventurous training or courses of a one-off nature.
