Introduction

Eaton Square is an independent co-educational secondary day school for children from the ages 11-16, located in London’s Mayfair district. The school is owned by Minerva Education, an independent school provider, run by former J.P. Morgan banker Philip Rattle.

Eaton Square is based at 106 Piccadilly in a building originally built as a townhouse for Sir Hugh Hunlock in 1761 and then Lord Coventry from 1764. After several important interior updates in 1765, it remained as Coventry House until 1848 and was briefly home to the French Ambassador.

Internally, most of the 18th-century features have been retained, comprising a grand stone staircase with a wrought-iron balustrade, which splits into two flights at first-floor level, as well as ornate ceilings, chandeliers, marble pillars and cornices. The exceptional premises offer a unique experience for each pupil, complemented by a strong pastoral care programme that supports and guides pupils towards developing inherent resilience, confidence and positivity that stick with them for a lifetime.

The curriculum comprises core subjects such as maths, English, science, history, geography and two modern language options (Spanish or French). Art, drama, computing, PSHEE and music are also taught at Eaton Square.

The school is noted for its Genius programme which draws on all areas of the curriculum and aims to encourage pupils to extensively expand their learning in unique topic areas such as neuroscience, philosophy and learning to learn. To develop leadership skills, they sit one timetabled leadership lesson per week covering the Floyd Woodrow’s Compass for Life programme.

The school proudly supports several charities. The most recent ones are Chiltern Music Therapy and East Africa Children’s Project. Chiltern is an organisation that provides music therapy services to people of all ages and many different needs, whilst East Africa Children’s Project is a charity that supports local projects targeting the needs of disadvantaged children in East Africa.
