Dunottar holds Open Days throughout the year which offer a great chance to get a taste of daily life on Campus. They include a talk from the Headmaster, a pupil-led tour of the school, attending lessons and a meeting with the staff.
If you are unable to attend any of the Open Days, you can arrange an individual visit via Admissions.
Dunottar School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
To register your child, you should fill in the registration form available on the school’s website. Upon registration, your child will be invited for a Year 7 assessment day, which takes place in early January of the calendar year of entry.
The assessment day will help your child learn more about life at Dunottar and will enable the school to assess their ability to fit into the Dunottar community. In addition to tests, your child will have a friendly, informal interview with a member of staff. They will also take part in a number of individual and group activities to assess their creative and collaborative skills.
Academic Scholarships are awarded on the basis of positive school reports and exceptional performance in the entry assessment and interview. The school looks into each child’s potential and capacity to contribute to the community. Thus, the school expects Scholars to show real commitment to their scholarship subject(s), aim high and have a positive impact on their peer group and other pupils.

- Verbal Reasoning
The English paper examines comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills.
