City Junior School 8 Plus (8+) Admissions
Entry at 8+ is not the school’s standard admissions point, and the admissions process for these occasional places varies slightly from the standard 7+ route. If places are available, your child will sit the entrance examinations in March of the year preceding entry.
Offers are made prior to the end of the spring term. Please note that a deposit payment will be required as part of the offer acceptance process.

City Junior School 8 Plus (8+) Exam Format
The City Junior School 8 Plus (8+) entrance exam consists of the following assessments:
- English writing
- English comprehension
- Mathematics
The English writing paper will test the following skills: grammar and punctuation; spelling; creativity and originality; writing coherence and organisation; handwriting and presentation, etc.
The English comprehension paper will assess the following skills: vocabulary; inference; your child’s ability to distinguish between factual statements and opinions; their ability to read, understand and interpret age-appropriate texts, etc.
The mathematics paper will evaluate the following skills: problem-solving; measurement; fractions and decimals; basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, etc.
