Introduction

 

Bridgewater School is a co-educational independent school, located in Worsley in Greater Manchester. Established in 1950 as a boys’ school, Bridgewater became fully co-educational in the 1960s.

 

The broad curriculum comprises English, maths, biology, chemistry, physics, Spanish, French, art, design technology, drama, geography, history, ICT, music, religious studies, PE and PSHCE.

 

The extra-curricular programme covers a range of activities such as Netball, Book Club, World Cinema Club, Code Club, Yoga, Art Club, Football and Chess Club.

Bridgewater School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

 

Entry into Year 7 is subject to successful performance in a computer-based entrance exam, writing task and interview, as well as strong current-school report. Offers of places are sent out in early March, to be accepted by the deadline indicated in the offer letter. Please note acceptance includes a payment of a £200 deposit. 

 

Bridgewater School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

 

At 11+, the school awards Academic, Performing Arts and Sports scholarships. Academic scholarships are offered to applicants who have demonstrated excellence in the entrance examinations. All awards carry up to a 25% discount on the full cost of school fees.

 

The school’s own bursary support scheme enables many pupils from low-income families to benefit from a Bridgewater education. One of the factors upon which the school decides whether to award a bursary is your child’s performance in the entrance examinations.

 

If you wish to be considered for financial assistance, you should indicate that in the initial registration form. A Bursary Application Form will then be sent to you, to be completed and returned to the Bursar with supporting documentation, prior to the entrance exam date. Bridgewater School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format

 

The Bridgewater School 11+ entrance examination consists of:

 

  • Online test: InCAS
  • Paper: Free writing task

 

InCAS examines skills in Verbal, Non-Verbal and Numerical Reasoning. It was produced by the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM).

 

For the English writing task, marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure. Students are presented with a selection of titles from which they choose one to write about.
