Introduction

Braeside School is an independent school located in Buckhurst Hill in Essex. The school is an all-through day school for girls aged 21/2 to 16. The Early Years and Juniors are based in Palmerston Road, Buckhurst Hill and the Senior site is a couple of minutes away on the High Road, Buckhurst Hill.

Over the last 70 years, there were many changes on campus, with new facilities built on both sites providing a new Junior School hall and science laboratories on the Senior site.

Braeside School was founded by Miss Marjory Wakefield in 1944. She attended a teacher training college in the Lake District, founded by the Victorian educationalist Charlotte Mason.

Wakefield adopted Mason’s principles of engaging both the child and parents in the process of education, based on building relationships and a collaborative love of learning.

In September 2015, Braeside School became part of the Oak-Tree Group of Schools, a powerful consortium of four local independent schools, also comprising Coopersale Hall School in Epping, Normanhurst School in North Chingford and Oaklands School in Loughton.

The school’s aim is to provide a secure and safe community where each child can achieve success academically and personally, whilst helping them develop a clear sense of right from wrong and teaching them to take responsibility for their own actions.

Classes are small in size, with around 14-16 pupils in each, enabling a more personalised opportunity for teaching and learning. The school is equipped with two impressive Science labs, an ICT suite, Art/Design Technology rooms, a Music/Drama Studio and a well-stocked library. Offering a broad range of co-curricular activities, the school’s clubs include House Drama, Karate, Maths, Piano, Singing, Sports Training, Street Dance and Violin for Seniors.

The school looks forward to many more years of service to the community. All pupils are encouraged to take part in a range of activities in order to contribute to local and national charities. They are regularly involved in various events and themed days to raise funds for worthy local and national causes, such as WE Day, GROW Project and Dementia Friends.

How to Prepare for Braeside School 11 Plus (11+) Exam

At Exam Papers Plus, we recommend that students follow a structured revision plan which includes the use of practice tests.

Our practice tests offer excellent preparation for the Braeside School 11+ entrance exam. They cover all the key skills and question types your child will encounter in the actual test, which enables you to identify any weaker areas in your child’s knowledge base that require additional work ahead of the exam.

The more time your child has to prepare for the entrance exam, the more time she’ll have to improve those weak areas. In this way, our practice tests help build confidence and remove potential insecurities, providing your child with a significant advantage over peers who approach exam preparation in a less structured way.

In order for the preparation process to become easily manageable and less demanding, we recommend practising under time pressure with the use of our practice tests and focusing on studying ‘little and often’.

Our 11+ practice tests are thoroughly researched and up to date and are designed to be age-appropriate yet challenging. They fully reflect the demands of a competitive entrance exam and are used successfully by hundreds of thousands of students every year.
