Introduction

Bancroft’s School is a co-ed independent school located in Woodford Green, in the London Borough of Redbridge. Educating around 1000 pupils, it is known for its impressive list of notable alumni, including two recipients of the Victoria Cross, as well as a number of naturalists, poets, academics, politicians and authors. [1]

In the Prep School, pupils follow a broad curriculum with focus on English, maths, science and humanities, complemented by specialist teaching in the areas of art, music, computing, PE and MFL. Alongside strong academic provision, the school offers an array of enrichment opportunities, ranging from dance, film and crafts to chess, drama and Model Building.

During the most recent inspection conducted by ISI, Bancroft’s pastoral care system was awarded with the highest marks and the school as a whole was rated as ‘excellent’ in each of the six categories. [2]

Aiming to provide pupils with the best possible academic outcomes whilst encouraging their natural curiosity, Bancroft’s School ensures that its vibrant and diverse community nurtures and respects differences. Students leave school with an awareness of the privileges and advantages of good education, but not without a sense of compassion for others who are less fortunate, and thus proceed to make efforts to change the world for the better.
