Introduction
Wellingborough School is a co-educational day independent school, located in the market town of Wellingborough in Northamptonshire. Established in 1595, it occupies a 45-acre campus. [1]
In the Prep School, lessons are delivered for a broad range of subjects, aiming to introduce pupils to a variety of disciplines and boost both their academic and non-academic qualifications. Wellingborough School holds a number of events throughout the academic year. Whole School Open Days take place in October and March, while Prep School Discovery Days are hosted in November, January and May. The Wellingborough School 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:
- CAT (Cognitive Abilities Test)
- Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning tests
- English essay
The online Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) assesses Verbal, Non-Verbal, Spatial and Quantitative Reasoning.
The Verbal Reasoning exam is designed to test and assess logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning test measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
The English assessment (essay) examines writing skills, including punctuation and grammar.
