Introduction
Mount St. Mary’s College is an independent co-educational day and boarding school situated in Spinkhill, Derbyshire, near Sheffield. It was founded in 1842 by Fr Randal Lythgoe, the Provincial Superior of the Society of Jesuits, and is still under the trusteeship of the Society.
Pupils study English, mathematics, RS and Modern Foreign Languages, along with art & design, DT, drama, geography, history, Latin, music, sports, physics, biology and chemistry.
Within the extra-curricular programme, the school organises a number of trips and outings, allowing pupils to become involved in a wider range of cultural events. Theatre visits, skiing holidays and visits to historic sites are a great addition to the range of activities pupils can partake in after lessons. Facilities include a heated indoor pool, a cricket wicket, rugby and football pitches, netball, rounders, hockey fields, an adventure playground and a UK Athletics certified track.
Committed to retaining small class sizes, the school enables teachers to get to know their pupils well and understand where a child needs encouragment and support. In this way, pupils are proud to be part of the school community, striving to live up to the school motto, Sine Macula (Without Blemish).
