Introduction
Northampton High School is an independent day school for girls in Hardingstone, Northampton. The school was founded in 1878 by a committee of local church people and became independent in the 1970s. It was initially based in Derngate, in Northampton town centre, and moved to its current premises in 1992.
After breaking ties with the church, in 2006 the school joined the Girls’ Day School Trust. Supported by the GDST, the school offers a broad range of cutting-edge and forward-thinking subject options.
French, German, Spanish and Latin are taught throughout Senior School, along with geography, history, theology, philosophy, English and mathematics.
Extracurricular activities comprise hockey, swimming, netball, cricket and athletics. The school’s sports centre includes a swimming pool, fitness suite and sports halls for various indoor sports and wellbeing activities (yoga and pilates).
For those who enjoy drama or music, individual instrumental lessons, joining the orchestra or taking part in plays are all possibilities. There is a variety of other extracurricular opportunities such as debating, dancing, coding and crafts.
The school offers outstanding, modern pastoral care, consisting of a strong team of specialists, a full-time nurse and a part-time counselor. They all provide extra layers of continual specialist support for the girls through every aspect of school life.
NHS values each girl as an individual and fosters confidence and academic abilities with the aim of building her character and further developing her talents. Proof of the success of such a formula are the recent inspection results, which show that the proportion of top GCSE grades achieved by students at Northampton High School was three-and-a-half times the national average.

Why do some of the recommendations above show me grammar school papers?
The main difference between independent and grammar school papers is the question format. Independent schools usually assess with standard format questions, which means students need to write out full answers. Grammar schools usually use multiple-choice format questions.
Whilst Northampton High School is an independent school, they actually use the grammar school (multiple-choice) format for some of their exams, which is why they are included in the recommendations above.
Our practice tests aim to show what sort of questions were included in Northampton High School 11+ exam past papers. The information provided about Northampton High School was believed to be correct at the time of publishing. However, please be aware of future changes. We advise you to contact the school directly if you are unsure of anything. School contact details are provided within the post.
