Introduction
Lord Wandsworth College (LWC) is a prominent co-educational independent school, spread across 1,200 acres of picturesque farmland near Long Sutton, Hampshire. Open Events for Lord Wandsworth College 11 Plus (11+) Entry
Open Morning is held each term and includes a talk from the Head, as well as a pupil-led tour of the College and the appropriate boarding house. Individual visits can also be arranged. They usually last an hour and a half and are similar in format to the Open Morning event, but provide a more personalised experience. You can view the school’s exact location on the map below:
Lord Wandsworth College (LWC) 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
The first step for 11+ admission includes completion of the registration form, which should be submitted with a payment of a £250 non-refundable fee. The form is available online, on the school’s website.
Upon registration, your child will be automatically invited to sit an online test, also known as LWC Pre-Test, which takes place at the College in the Autumn Term of Year 6. The test can also be taken at their current school.
Additionally, candidates for entry will be invited to the school for an assessment morning, during which they will participate in group activities, take assessments and attend interviews with senior members of staff, including the Head.
Prior to the examinations, LWC will request your child’s current school report. Places are offered on the basis of the test results, school reports and assessment morning performance, and are reserved with a payment of a £1,000 acceptance deposit.
Lord Wandsworth College (LWC) 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Each year, the school offers up to 10 scholarships and awards at each entry level. Scholarships can be honorary or carry a financial reward, covering 5% of the annual fees. Scholarships can be augmented by a means-tested bursary.
For Year 7 entry, your child can apply for Academic Scholarships, Performing Arts Scholarships (Music Specialism, Drama Specialism, Dance Specialism or a combination) and Sport Scholarships.
Means-tested bursaries are awarded if parents can demonstrate, through a means-testing procedure, that they would not otherwise be able to send their child to LWC due to financial limitations.
Bursaries cover 10-25% of the school fees (dependent on family circumstances) and are generally linked to scholarships. In exceptional circumstances, the award may be given to candidates who do not quite meet specific scholarship criteria. To make a bursary application, please reach out to the Admissions Office.

The Lord Wandsworth College 11+ entrance exam consists of:
- Bespoke online test
The online test has two stages:
Stage 1: Lasting one hour, Stage 1 tests Maths, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English, Verbal Reasoning and Creative Comprehension.
⦿ The Maths questions cover areas such as arithmetic and problem-solving, assessing pupils’ skills using diagrams and charts.
⦿ The English section covers Comprehension and SPaG questions, focusing on reading, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
⦿ The Non-Verbal Reasoning sections test pupils’ ability to solve problems using visuals and patterns within shapes and diagrams.
⦿ The Verbal Reasoning sections look at vocabulary and understanding context, focusing on pattern recognition and logical reasoning.
Stage 2: Consists of the following modules, completed as part of the assessment morning session:
⦿ The Creative Comprehension assessment includes responding to multiple-choice questions derived from a variety of sources, which can include text, maps, timetables, charts and diagrams.
⦿ Puzzles & Problem Solving – this module includes interactive puzzles and diagrams. Every puzzle is paired with a question that requires the student to respond by typing in a box and choosing from a set of multiple-choice answers.
