Open Mornings in the Prep include tours of facilities, led by a current pupil, and meetings with members of teaching and admissions staff. During the visit, your child will take part in a range of on-site activities with peers. Pre-registering for the event is made using an online form.
Truro School Prep 8 Plus (8+) Admissions
To commence the admissions process, you should complete and return the registration form together with a payment of a £100 (non-refundable) fee. In the following stages, the school will reach out to schedule a Taster session for your child, during which they will be assessed.
Current school reports will be obtained and taken into consideration. Subject to successful performance in the examinations and positive report, your child may receive an offer of a place. To accept it, you will be asked to pay a £500 guarantee fee.
Together with the offer letter, Truro Prep will also send you their Terms and Conditions; information about uniform, sports kit and classroom equipment; their fee payment options, etc.
Truro School Prep 8 Plus (8+) Scholarships and Bursaries
At 8+, the school offers Boy Chorister Scholarships that carry a 25% deduction of fees. As part of the evaluation procedure, all applicants take part in an audition. Scholars will be expected to fully engage in all choir-related activities and prioritise them throughout their education at Truro School.

The Truro School Prep 8 Plus (8+) exam consists of the following assessments:
- English
- Mathematics
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
The English assessment examines comprehension and writing skills, including spelling, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and oral skills.
The Maths exam assesses problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including your child’s knowledge of times tables.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning exam measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
