Introduction
Established in 1560, Solihull School is an independent co-educational setting in the West Midlands. It successfully educates bright students aged 7-18 and is the oldest school in Solihull, adhering to the motto By perseverance while maintaining exceptionally high academic and pastoral standards. The curriculum broadly reflects Solihull’s aims to provide for pupils’ varied interests and learning styles. Featuring everything from art and mathematics to humanities and languages, it is characterised by a balance of academic and practical learning opportunities and is hence one of the pillars of school’s the relevant educational offering.
The broad selection of extracurriculars includes chess, debating, football, hockey, poetry, rounders, swimming and many more, and all pupils are encouraged to get involved in order to explore new interests and forge lasting friendships. Solihull School is happy to arrange a visit for your child, typically on Taster Day, and help them become familiar with everything on offer. Solihull School 7 Plus (7+) Admissions
The registration form must be submitted and received by the school by the deadline in November of the year preceding entry. The entrance examination, which is mandatory for all applicants, will be held in the following January.
Please note that there are fees associated with the application process, including a registration fee of £75 and an acceptance deposit of £400. The acceptance deposit will be refunded to you at the end of your child’s career at Solihull School.

Scholarships and bursaries are not available to 7+ applicants.
Solihull School 7 Plus (7+) Exam Format
The Solihull School 7+ exam consists of the following assessments:
- English
- Mathematics
The first English test focuses on pupils’ comprehension of a fiction text, which asks literal, deductive and inferential questions. The second English test is creative writing, where children have to write a short story on a given title.
There will be one written maths paper lasting 50 minutes, followed by ten minutes of mental arithmetic. The exam will include an assessment of your child’s knowledge of mathematical concepts, including times tables, and their ability to apply these concepts to solve problems.
