How do I book and pay?

Click on ‘book a lesson’ and enter your personal details as requested. You can book as many lessons as you like for your child, as each one will be different.

You will then be asked to enter your credit or debit card details to make payment.

Once payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation email, including the Zoom link for the lesson. Please look out for it, as it sometimes goes to junk/spam!

Can I book recurring sessions?

Yes, as long as the date and time you want is available, you will be able to book. All sessions are different so you can book as many as you like, as often as you like.

What will be taught in a Maths session?

We will look at various topics and questions that could come up in an 11+ exam, including number work, shape, algebra, fractions, problem solving and exam technique etc. Students may analyse an exam question in detail, with the teacher providing thorough explanations, clear model answers and tips on what to look out for. Sessions will be stimulating and interactive, and will provide a great opportunity for students to ask questions and get clarity on topics that they don’t understand.

What will be taught in an English lesson?

We will look at differing aspects of the 11+ English exam during sessions. We have split lessons into comprehension and creative writing. In comprehension we will tackle various question types and genres, understanding the question, how to provide a suitable response and other exam techniques. In creative writing sessions will be look responding to different prompts and genres, stimulating ideas, adding description, ‘show, don’t tell’ and using the senses.  The teacher will explain questions, concepts and ideas in a clear manner. There will be plenty of opportunities for students to clarify misconceptions, practise new techniques and sharpen key skills required to do well in 11+ English exams.

What will be taught in a Reasoning lesson?

Each lesson will incorporate both Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The tutor will go over a variety of different question types in each session, helping children to spot patterns, use logic and elimination techniques, problem solve, recognise question types and explain exam techniques that will help them to perform efficiently and accurately in these types of exam.

How many students will there be in a lesson?

There will a up to 6 students in each lesson.

How does an online lesson work?

Teachers will use a combination of Zoom, a shared screen/digital whiteboard to ensure students gain maximum benefit from each lesson. This will ensure that your child will be able to see the tutor and his or her fellow students, access material that will be used in the session and be able to work on documents in real time.

Students will be able to ask questions and participate fully in the session.

What do I need to do to ensure the lesson goes smoothly?

  1. Please install Zoom well in advance of the first session and make sure it is working. This will help to ensure that the session starts promptly for your child and their fellow students. (See below for guidance on how to install Zoom.)
  2. You will receive your link via the Calendly confirmation email when you book the session. This will be your login link. It will be sent to the email address which you used to book.
  3. Please ensure that your child is in front of their screen and ready to go 2-3 minutes before the official session start time, so they have time to get comfortable and log in.

Is each lesson stand-alone?

Yes, every session is stand-alone and self-contained. This means that you can sign up for sessions at any time. All feedback will be given to students directly during the session. There will be no homework set at the end of a session.

What does my child need in terms of technology to participate in a session?

All they will need is access to a laptop or tablet and a Zoom account. The tutor will provide access to a shared digital whiteboard/screen as necessary.

How do I sign up for a Zoom account?

Click here to visit the Zoom website and sign up for a free basic account. You will need an account before you are able to participate in a session, but it is straightforward and can be done within minutes.

Please ensure that you set up your Zoom account well in advance of your first session. Once set up and installed, you will not have to install again.

If you are having trouble installing, please visit their installation help page.

Is a Zoom account free?
