In the wake of COVID-19, our specialist tutors will be offering small online group tutoring sessions in 11+ Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning for students currently in Year 5.
These will help your child to stay focused and on track for their exams.
Knowing that your child has a session scheduled with an expert tutor can add a sense of focus and discipline to their learning, as well as giving you some valuable time off!
Lessons are 1 hour in length and cost £30. Each lesson will focus on a specific topic within the 11+ syllabus. There will be no duplicate lessons; each one will be unique.
Who will teach the classes?
We’ve lined up some of our most qualified and talented tutors and teachers to lead these sessions. Not only do they have vast 11+ experience, but they are also experts in the various nuances required to teach group classes effectively in an online setting.
How do I book and pay?
Choose a class above and enter your personal details as requested. You can book as many lessons as you like as each one will be different.
You will then be asked to enter your credit or debit card details to make payment.
Once payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation email.
Can I book recurring classes?
Yes, as long as the date and time you want has availability, you will be able to book.
What will be taught in a Maths lesson?
We will look at various topics and questions that could come up in an 11+ exam, including number work, shape, algebra, fractions, problem solving and exam technique. Students may analyse an exam question in detail, with the teacher providing thorough explanations, clear model answers and tips on what to look out for. Sessions will be stimulating and interactive, providing a great opportunity for students to ask questions and get clarity on topics that they don’t understand.
What will be taught in an English lesson?
We will look at different aspects of the 11+ English exam during the classes, including comprehension, creative writing, tackling various question types and genres, vocabulary, grammar, punctuation and exam technique. The teacher will explain questions, concepts and ideas in a clear and succinct manner. There will be plenty of opportunities for students to clarify misconceptions, practise new techniques and sharpen the key skills required to do well in the 11+ English exam.
What will be taught in a Non Verbal Reasoning lesson?
We will look at various topics and questions that could come up in an 11+ exam, including shapes, patterns, odd one out, nets, rotations, codes, 3D shapes, figure analysis and logic puzzles etc. Students may analyse an exam question in detail, with the teacher providing thorough explanations, discuss methods for solving questions, analyse model answers and learn tips on what to look out for. Sessions will be stimulating and interactive, providing a great opportunity for students to ask questions and problem solve together!
What will be taught in a Verbal Reasoning lesson?
We will look at different aspects of 11+ VR during the classes, including word meanings, synonyms/antonyms, completing words/sentences, letter codes, hidden words, jumbled letters/sentences, logic puzzles and word puzzles etc. The teacher will explain questions, concepts and ideas in a clear and succinct manner. There will be plenty of opportunities for students to clarify misconceptions, practise new tips and techniques, sharpen key skills, play with words, ask questions and problem solve together!
How many students will there be in a class?
There will a maximum 4 students in a class.
How does an online lesson work?
Teachers will use a combination of Zoom and a shared digital whiteboard to ensure students gain maximum benefit from each lesson. This will ensure that your child will be able to see the tutor and his or her fellow students, access material that will be used in the session and be able to work on documents in real time.
Each student will be able to ask questions and participate fully in the class.
What do I need to do to ensure the lesson goes smoothly?
Please install Zoom well in advance of the first session and make sure it is working. This will help to ensure that the session starts promptly for your child and their fellow students. (See below for guidance on how to install Zoom.)
You will receive a link by email in advance of the session. This will be your login link. It will be sent to the email address which you use to book.
Please ensure that your child is in front of their screen and ready to go 5 minutes before the official session start time, so they have time to get comfortable and log in.
Is each lesson stand-alone?
Yes, every lesson is stand-alone and self-contained. This means that you can sign up for lessons at any time. All feedback will be given to students during the class. There will be no homework set at the end of a session.
What does my child need in terms of technology to participate in a lesson?
All they will need is access to a laptop or tablet and a free Zoom account. The teacher will share a Zoom link in advance of the session via the email address you booked with and provide access to a shared digital whiteboard. This will allow students and the teacher to annotate documents in real time.
How do I sign up for a Zoom account?
Click here to visit the Zoom website and sign up for a free basic account. You will need an account before you are able to participate in a session, but it is straightforward and can be done within minutes.
Please ensure that you set up your Zoom account well in advance of your first session. Once set up and installed, you will not have to install again.

Is a Zoom account free?
Yes, a basic account is free, so you will not incur any costs signing up to Zoom.
What if I need to cancel a lesson?
You will receive a full refund if you cancel a lesson 24 hours in advance. Cancellation after this time will be charged in full.
What if I need to change a lesson time?
You can amend your booking at any time up to 24 hours before the class starts. You can do this by cancelling the original booking and re-booking a new slot. All changes will be subject to availability.
Am I able to book a bespoke group lesson with four people I know?
