Introduction
Woodhouse Grove School (The Grove) is an independent, co-educational, day and boarding school located to the north of Apperley Bridge, West Yorkshire. Established with the aim of educating the sons of Methodist Ministers, the school currently educates approximately 1000 students.
The Grove’s curriculum covers the following disciplines: Art & Design Technology, Humanities, Languages, Mathematics & IT, PE & Sport, Performing arts and Science. The co-curricular programme extends across a range of activities, including academic excursions such as the Geography trip to Iceland and the History Battlefields Tour of France and Belgium.

Woodhouse Grove School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
To apply for a place at Woodhouse Grove school, you should complete the online application form. Upon registering, your child will be invited to sit entrance exams in January, followed by an interview with a member of Senior Staff. The interview may include an assessment of reading, verbal comprehension skills and numerical abilities. A current-school report will also be requested.
Woodhouse Grove School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
A limited number of Headmaster’s Scholarships are awarded annually to exceptional candidates entering the school. These carry a discount on the full boarding or day fees and can be supplemented by a means-tested bursary.
Music Scholarships are also available at 11+. Please note that scholarship awards are reviewed and are subject to the scholar maintaining a satisfactory level of work, behaviour and academic progress.
Bursary Awards are means-tested and are awarded following a detailed evaluation of your financial circumstances. However, the school does not offer awards that cover 100% of the fees.
Bursary applicants must demonstrate merit in the admissions process, while the bursary application form must be properly completed and fully supported by documentation for household gross income, assets and liabilities. Awards will be made on a sliding scale according to your financial circumstances at the time of application.

Woodhouse Grove School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Woodhouse Grove School 11+ entrance examination consists of the following papers:
- English
- Mathematics
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
