Introduction

 

Wisbech Grammar School is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Founded by the Guild of the Holy Trinity in 1379, the school is affiliated with the Church of England.

 

Year 7 pupils study English, mathematics, history, geography, French, German, science, music, religious studies, art, technology, physical education and games. The immensely popular Duke of Edinburgh’s Award includes engagement in community service, improvement in the areas of sport, dance or fitness, developing practical and social skills and interests, and planning, training for, and going on adventurous journeys in the UK and abroad.

 

Wisbech Grammar School teaches each pupil to take responsibility for their own learning whilst engaging them in all areas of the curriculum. Wisbech Grammar School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

 

The aim of the school’s admissions process is to identify potential. It includes an interview with a member of the Senior Team, a review of recent school reports and a current-school reference and a Taster Day.

 

Your child will also be invited to sit an entrance assessment consisting of an online test. After successful completion of the entrance assessment, the admissions team will send out offer letters, parent contracts and acceptance forms.

 

Wisbech Grammar School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

 

Wisbech Grammar School awards Academic, Music, Drama, Art, and Sport Scholarships, all of them carrying a fee remission of £1,000 per annum upon 11+ entry. Academic Scholarships are awarded to top-performing candidates assessed via the entrance exam, interview with the Head and current-school references.

 

Music, Drama, Sport and Art recognitions are awarded following further assessments. Scholars will be expected to be positive role models and maintain high academic standards. ‘Exhibitioner’ awards are also available. Exhibitioners have access to the same programme as Scholars, except their recognitions come with no monetary value.

 

The school has a bursary fund, making it possible to provide financial assistance to pupils who would not otherwise be able to afford to go to Wisbech Grammar School. Bursaries are means-tested and require completion of a detailed and verifiable statement of income and assets. They range from 5% to 85%, though a 100% fee remission can also be granted in exceptional cases. 

 

To apply for a bursary, you must register your child for entry first. Following registration, you should request a bursary application from the Admissions Team. They will also provide more information about the evaluation process.
