Introduction
Westfield School is an independent day school for girls in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne. It was founded in 1960 by a group of parents who recognised that existing schools for girls in Newcastle didn’t offer a broad enough curriculum. The school was established on the Gordonstoun model.
In Year 7, Westfield girls study English, mathematics, geography, history, physics, chemistry, biology, MFL, Latin, music, art, drama, food & nutrition, religious studies, PE and ICT.
The school’s rich programme of extracurricular activities ranges from trampolining, athletics and design club, to the UNESCO club, Passport for Life and Environmental groups, promoting physical health, creativity and environmental awareness in the utmost practical sense.
The excellent teaching at Westfield is delivered via small class sizes, which help girls discover their talents and figure out ways to best express themselves. The school aims to nurture the leaders of tomorrow: girls who are confident, outgoing, resilient, optimistic and ready to make an impact in the world.
