West Buckland School is an independent school in West Buckland, Devon. Founded in 1858, it was one of eight schools shortlisted for ‘Boarding School of the Year’ in the recent TES Independent School Awards. 
In the Prep department, the curriculum is aimed at equipping pupils with an all-round knowledge and skills in both academic and non-academic areas. Subjects included range from English, maths, science, humanities and MFL to art, drama, music, DT and games.
After classes, children get to choose from a broad selection of extras, boosting their interests, talents and abilities as they simultaneously develop firm friendships. Activities on offer include tennis, athletics, surfing, climbing, debating, current affairs, choir, craft club and swimming club.
One of the pillars of the pastoral care provision is the house system, which promotes a strong sense of belonging to a warm community.
