Open Days at Wellington Prep are held twice a year, in September and May. Following the introductory speech by the Head, you and your child will take a guided tour of the school, typically concluding with refreshments. Wellington Prep is an academically selective school, hence offers of places are made on the basis of successful completion of formal assessments. The registration fee is £100 and the acceptance deposit is £400.

The Wellington Prep School 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:
- Reasoning (online test)
The English exam examines comprehension and writing skills, including inference, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and oral skills.
The Maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including their knowledge of times tables.
The Verbal Reasoning section of the online Reasoning test is designed to test and assess your child’s logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning section of the online Reasoning test measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
