Introduction
The Queen’s School is an independent day school for girls in Chester. It was established as “The Chester School for Girls” in 1878. A few years later, Queen Victoria, the school’s first patron, renamed it “The Queen’s School”, making it the only school in England with this distinction. [1]
The KS2 curriculum is focused on boosting pupils’ skills in English, maths and science. After classes, girls engage in a wide range of activities and clubs, including Junior Choir, Athletics, Computer Club, Young Journalists and House of Dance.

Lower School Open House is set to take place in October. During the event, you and your child will have the opportunity to tour the school and meet key staff members, as well as hear a talk from the Head.

The Queen’s School, Chester, 7 Plus (7+) Admissions
If you wish your daughter to be considered for the 7+ exam, she should be registered with the school by the deadline in early January of the calendar year of entry. Registration forms can be found here. Please note that there is a fee of £50.
The exam will take place later the same month. Subject to successful performance in the exam and a positive school report from your daughter’s current Headteacher, you may receive an offer letter (in February).
To secure your child’s place, you will be asked to complete an Acceptance form and pay a deposit.

The Queen’s School 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:

- Mathematics
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
The English assessment is likely to examine comprehension and writing skills, including spelling, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and their oral skills.
The Maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including their knowledge of times tables.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning paper measures her ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
