The Harrodian School is an independent, co-educational day school in Barnes, south-west London. It opened in 1993, initially educating only 65 pupils. Today, it caters for approximately 1000 boys and girls.
In Year 7, pupils study biology, chemistry, English, MFL, geography, history, mathematics, physics, religious studies, sports, art, music, drama, physical education, computing and Latin. The school offers over 60 clubs and activities every week, including debating, fencing, chess and coding.

11+ Open Mornings take place on a typical school day in September and October, providing you and your child with the opportunity to meet the Headmaster, staff and current pupils. There will also be refreshments, with the Admissions team nearby to answer any questions you may have.

The Harrodian School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
The registration deadline to sit the 11+ exam is in November of the year preceding entry. There will be a registration fee of £200.
References from your child’s current school will be requested in December, whilst the 11+ exam will take place in January. In the same month, following the exam, your child will attend an interview.
To accept a place, you will be expected to sign an Acceptance Form and a Fee Payment Form and pay a deposit of £2000, refundable in your child’s last term at the school.
The deadline for acceptance of the offer is in early March of the calendar year of entry.
The Harrodian School 11 plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Harrodian doesn’t offer Scholarships at 11+. However, they do offer Bursaries of up to 100% off the school fees to suitable candidates, following the submission and processing of all relevant documentation, as well as successful performance in the 11+ examination and interview. Bursaries are means-tested and reviewed annually.
The Harrodian School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Harrodian School 11+ exam consists of:
- English paper
- Mathematics paper
- Online Reasoning Test
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
The Reasoning test measures Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning skills. The Verbal Reasoning section is designed to test and assess your child’s logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary. The Non-Verbal Reasoning section measures their ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
