Introduction
Founded in 1864, Summer Fields School is an independent boys’ school for day and boarding pupils aged 8-13. It is located in Summertown, Oxford, on a beautiful 70-acre site surrounded by countryside, and boasts a long and impressive alumni list, including physicists, architects, politicians and diplomats. Summer Fields School 8 Plus (8+) Admissions
Admission to Summer Fields School is normally in Year 4 (8+) for boarders and day pupils. The school also accepts some boys at 9+ and 10+, subject to availability.
You can register your child with the school at any point from birth by completing a registration form and submitting it with a £100 registration fee. As part of the admissions process, reports from his current educational setting will be obtained.
The entrance tests take place in the year before entry. Subject to successful performance, your son may receive an offer, to be accepted with a payment of a £1,500 deposit.
Summer Fields School 8 Plus (8+) Exam Format
The Summer Fields School 8+ entrance exam consists of the following assessments:
- English
- Mathematics
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
The English test assesses reading, writing, spelling and free writing.
The Maths exam assesses problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including your child’s knowledge of times tables.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning test measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
