Stamford School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
To apply for Year 7 entry, you should complete and return an application form together with an application fee of £100. Entry at 11+ is based on performance in the entrance exam and interview with a teaching staff member, as well as a positive school reference. Note that a place may not be offered if the reference is unsatisfactory or has not been received.
The deadline for Bursary and Scholarship Applications is at the end of November, whilst the deadline for entrance examination applications is at the beginning of January. The exam is set some time later that month.
Offers are issued at the end of January, to be accepted by the deadline in March.
At 11+, the school offers Academic and Music Scholarships, as well as the Talented Athlete Development Award. For the Academic Scholarship, no additional application is required, since invitations to sit the scholarship assessment are sent out following your son’s successful performance in the entrance examination.
Scholarships carry a small financial award, however, they offer successful applicants the opportunity to engage in the Scholars’ Programme, which supports in-depth learning, incorporates mentoring and support, and gives students access to additional activities.
For families who cannot afford the cost of school fees, Stamford offers financial support in the form of means-tested bursaries.
The level of support will be dependent on your income, sometimes covering 100% of the fees. To apply for bursary support, you must submit a separate application. The evaluation process includes an interview with the Head and a home visit. For more information, please refer to the Admissions Team.

Why do some of the recommendations above show me grammar school papers?
The main difference between independent and grammar school papers is the question format. Independent schools usually assess with standard format questions, which means students need to write out full answers. Grammar schools usually use multiple-choice format questions.
Whilst Stamford School is an independent school, they actually use the grammar school (multiple-choice) format for some of their exams, which is why they are included in the recommendations above.
Our practice tests aim to show what sort of questions were included in Stamford School 11+ past papers. The information provided about Stamford School was believed to be correct at the time of publishing. However, please be aware of future changes. We advise you to contact the school directly if you are unsure of anything. School contact details are provided within the post.
