Introduction

 

Park School for Girls is an independent day school for girls in Ilford, Essex. Founded in 1974 by parents who purchased the buildings from Clark’s College, the school has had a number of extensions added to its original site over the years.

 

The Year 7 curriculum covers MFL, music, drama, mathematics, English, science, geography, history, PSHEC, religious studies, ICT, art & design and physical education.

 

The Enrichment Programme offers a variety of clubs, ranging from Table Tennis, Board Games, Coding and First Aid, to Touch Typing, Photography, Cooking and Film Club.

Park School for Girls 11 Plus (11+) Admissions  

 

To register your daughter for Year 7 Entry, you should complete the registration form, return it to the school office along with a copy of your daughter’s birth certificate and pay the fee of £40.

 

Your daughter will then receive an invitation to spend a Taster Day at the school. There will also be an interview with the Headteacher.

 

The entrance exam takes place on the first Saturday morning in February and assesses skills in two areas of the curriculum.

 

Results are posted out on the Friday after the examination. To accept an offer of a place and secure it, you will be expected to pay a deposit of £1,000, £500 of which will be deducted from the fees for the first term. £400 will be refunded when your daughter leaves the school. £100 constitutes the Registration and Administration fee.

 

Park School for Girls 11 Plus (11+) Bursaries

 

The school offers a selection of Bursaries, which are means-tested and based on family income. However, other factors of concern to your daughter will also be taken into account. 

 

The Bursary form, available on the website, should be completed and returned with supporting documentation to the Bursar. Bursaries are awarded annually so you will be expected to reapply each Spring.

 

Park School for Girls 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format

 

The Park School for Girls 11+ entrance examination consists of the following tests:

 

  • English (120 mins)
  • Mathematics (75 mins)

 

The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.

 

The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper will include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
