Book Clinic

This Clinic will focus on the famous ‘Date Problem’, divisibility rules and rates questions.

These Online Maths Clinics have been devised by Mary Ellis, specifically for Exam Papers Plus customers, focusing on tricky areas of the maths syllabus.

They are designed for children that are entering Year 6 this September and are targeting the UK’s most academic and competitive schools.

Mary has created a set of six sessions, focusing on topics which students often find the trickiest. She will not only explain how to decipher questions and utilise maths knowledge to tackle seemingly overwhelming problems, but she will also provide tips and tricks for working speedily and accurately, eliminating silly errors and explain to students how to pick up each and every mark.

Each 1.5-hour session is stand-alone, focusing on one key topic area. Prior to each session, students will receive their exclusive workbook by email and follow up material, including answers, will be sent after the session.

Sessions will be supportive and interactive, and students will get the opportunity to ask questions and work together.

These clinics will be taught in small groups online over Zoom. Once you have booked your child’s place, we will send you the Zoom link to join.

About Mary Ellis:

Former Head of Mathematics at Westminster Under School for 15 years, Mary is a highly experienced maths teacher and tutor who knows the 11+/13+ maths system inside out.

She has helped hundreds of students transfer to high-achieving secondary schools at 11+ and 13+. In addition to running a first-rate department and overseeing the mathematical education of hundreds of boys, she organized the UKMT Junior and Intermediate Mathematics Challenges and follow-on rounds, as well as the MA Primary Maths Challenge. She personally prepared Westminster boys for the UKMT Team Maths Challenge, winning the National Final three times!

Mary also writes maths problems for the MA Primary Maths Challenge aimed at Year 5 and Year 6 pupils nationwide and is the author of “The Aliens Have Landed and 174 Other Problems” published by the Mathematical Association in 2017.

We are delighted to have her on board!
