Introduction
Our Lady’s Abingdon is a co-educational independent day school in Abingdon-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Founded in 1860 by the Sisters of Mercy, OLA provides first-class education with leavers moving on to a wide range of universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and many leading Russell group institutions.
Seniors study art, DT, English, drama, food, Latin, mathematics, science, history, geography, MFL, religious studies, music, PSHE, PE and textiles.
The school’s overseas expeditions have included destinations such as Kenya, Peru, China, Patagonia, Ecuador and Nepal, helping pupils acquire an array of skills and develop a profound sense of teamwork and responsibility.

Our Lady’s Abingdon School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
After the visit, you may wish to register your child for admission. This includes completing a registration form, available on the school’s website, and paying the £100 registration fee, which is non-refundable.
Entry is based on results in formal 11+ examinations, the quality of a recent school report and current-school reference, and your child’s conduct during the interview with a Leadership Team member. The exams and interview take place in November of the year preceding entry.
Offer letters are sent out later in the same month. Please note that acceptance of a place includes a payment of a £500 deposit, refunded at the end of your child’s career at OLA.
Our Lady’s Abingdon School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
At 11+, under the McAuley Scholarship Programme, OLA offers Academic, Art, Drama, Music and Sports Scholarships. The Academic Scholarship award covers 10% of school fees and is valid until the end of Year 11. Scholarship application forms are available on the school’s website.
Means-tested bursaries are offered with the aim of assisting families who are interested in joining but are unable to afford full fees. The value of the bursary will be reviewed annually and may vary depending on your current financial circumstances.
