Our Lady’s Abingdon is a co-educational independent day school in Abingdon-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Founded in 1860 by the Sisters of Mercy, OLA provides first-class education with leavers moving on to a wide range of universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and many leading Russell group institutions.

Our Lady’s Abingdon School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
After the visit, you may wish to register your child for admission. This includes completing the Registration and Examination Entry Form and paying the registration fee. The forms are available on the school’s website.
Entry is based on results in entrance examinations, the quality of a recent school report and current-school reference, and an interview with a Leadership Team member.
The Entrance Examination and short interview take place in the January prior to the year of entry. Offer letters are sent out later the same month.
Our Lady’s Abingdon School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
At 11+, under the McAuley Scholarship Programme, OLA offers Academic, Art, Drama, Music and Sports Scholarships.
Academic Scholarships are awarded on the basis of results in the entrance examinations and the applicants’ overall capacity to contribute to the life of the school. They will be asked to bring a recent piece of written school work to discuss at their scholarship interview.
The Academic Scholarship award covers 10% of school fees and is valid until the end of Year 11. Scholarship application forms are available on the school’s website.
Means-tested bursaries are offered with the aim of assisting families who are interested in joining but are unable to afford full fees. The value of the bursary will be reviewed annually and may vary depending on your current financial circumstances. Applications for bursaries must be submitted by the deadline in November in order to be considered.

The Our Lady’s Abingdon School 11+ entrance examination consists of the following tests:
- Verbal Reasoning
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
