Oakham School is a British co-educational independent school in the market town of Oakham in Rutland. The school was founded in 1584 by Archdeacon Robert Johnson, who also established Uppingham School, located just a few miles away.

Open Mornings are held on Saturday mornings and provide you and your child with an opportunity to experience the school’s atmosphere. A typical Open Morning begins with coffee and a chat with the staff, including Housemasters/Housemistresses and tutors, followed by a talk from the Headmaster and deputies. You will then attend a group tour of a house and the school, which finishes with lunch.

Oakham School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Registering your child does not imply any commitment, it just guarantees that you are informed about future steps. The registration form is available on the school’s website.
You will be expected to pay a deposit, which is refundable if your child is not offered a place. Upon receipt of the deposit, the school will provisionally assign your child a House.
11+ entry depends on your child’s results in the entrance assessment and the interview with the Housemaster/mistress or the Head of Lower School, as well as a current school report.

If you wish to apply for a scholarship, your child will be further assessed. All scholarships carry a fee reduction, which may be increased in value subject to means-testing. You can apply for more than one scholarship, however, the total value of any scholarships awarded will not exceed 20%.

The Oakham School 11+ entrance exam consists of the following assessments:
- English (written paper)
- Online diagnostic test (maths, English, Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning)
The English paper may examine skills such as spelling, writing, inference, vocabulary and punctuation. It will be combined with a short skills-testing exercise.
The online diagnostic test is likely to be similar to CEM Select, which examines your child’s skills in Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Numerical Reasoning.
