Introduction
Nottingham Girls’ High School is an independent selective day school for girls located north of Nottingham city centre. Founded in 1875, NGHS is a member of the Girls’ Day School Trust. [1]
In the Junior School, girls acquire skills in the core subjects of English and mathematics, coupled with cross-curricular disciplines covering science, history, geography, RE, computing, PSHCE, French, art and DT.
A range of syllabus-related and enrichment activities take place in superb facilities, including a music room, a library and an IT suite equipped with modern computers. The Junior School also shares extensive facilities with the Senior School, such as the Food Technology Room, art studios and a stunning performing arts centre, The Space, comprising a professional theatre of 250 seats.
Nottingham Girls’ High is actively promoting a healthy lifestyle among students. Meals are cooked on site by expert staff and catered in a state-of-the-art dining hall. The selection of meals is wide, including Halal, non-Halal dishes and vegetarian options.

Nottingham Girls’ High School 7 Plus (7+) Admissions
Applications for entry to the Junior School are made on the school’s website. A payment of a £50 registration fee is required.
Please note that NGHS will contact your daughter’s current school to obtain a confidential report.
Offers are made on the grounds of strong report and successful completion of the 7+ assessments, testing Maths and English skills. Acceptance includes a payment of a £500 deposit.

The Nottingham Girls’ High School 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:

The English exam examines comprehension and writing skills, including inference, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and her oral skills.
