Introduction
Nottingham Girls’ High School (NGHS) is an independent day school for girls aged 3–18 and has been educating girls since 1875. The campus, on which the original Victorian mansions stand side-by-side with purpose-built modern facilities, is located close to Nottingham Arboretum, just a short walk from the city centre. It comprises a nursery, infant and junior school, senior school and sixth form.
NGHS is a member of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), which is a network of 23 girls’ schools, plus 2 academies. It offers a broad and challenging academic curriculum and a diverse programme of co-curricular activities, which includes lots of opportunities for adventure.
NGHS prides itself on pushing boundaries and placing no limits on its students. Its football team was first established as far back as 1881, when the sport was still viewed as too dangerous for girls, and has gone on to be very successful. The school also has an excellent performing arts programme, supported by exceptional facilities, including a state-of-the-art performing arts centre, The Space, which opened in 2017.
