Introduction

Northwood College for Girls is an independent day school for girls in Northwood, London. Founded in 1870, it operates a house system made up of four houses, catering for approximately 930 students. [1]

The teaching provision addresses pupils’ needs and preferences through a forward-thinking approach, maintaining exceptionally high academic standards within the scope of the robust education on offer. Girls study two Modern Foreign Languages, science, Latin, technology and maths, among others, developing strong qualifications and self-assertiveness in the process.

The hard work in the classroom is balanced through a varied activities programme, featuring over 70 clubs and numerous school trips, taking place throughout the year. Museum, theatre and gallery visits are an essential part of the learning experience, maximising girls’ appreciation of arts alongside their cultural awareness and imaginative capacity. [2]

Firmly knowledgeable about the world and its complexities, Northwood’s girls approach adulthood with unique talents and academic integrity, immersing themselves with enthusiasm in learning and work. Furthermore, they approach interactions with an awareness of their individual responsibility in the context of larger things and thus productively engage in social processes, confidently moulding their circumstances to fit a preferred objective.
