Mount House School is an independent day school located in Monken Hadley, in the London Borough of Barnet. Founded in 1903 as an all-girls school, it became co-educational in 2018, accepting boys into Year 7 and the Sixth Form.
In Senior School, pupils study: English, maths, science, geography, history, RS, MFL, classics, Mandarin, computing, Latin, music, art, drama, textiles, PE and games.

Open Mornings provide families with a great opportunity to become familiar with the school by taking a tour of the facilities, meeting staff and pupils, taking part in a range of activities and hearing a talk from the Headmaster. Booking is made via an online form.

Mount House School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
After the visit, you should register for a place via the school’s website and pay a non-refundable registration fee of £75.
Your child will then be invited to a Taster Day, during which they will get to experience the school and meet other pupils in their year group.
Entrance Assessments take place in the November preceding the year of entry. Admission into Year 7 is subject to performance in the assessments, the quality of your child’s current school references and reports, and an interview with a Senior Staff member.
Based on performance in the entrance assessment and the interview, the Principal may decide to award your child a Scholarship.
Results are sent both by post and email. An offer of a place, along with any scholarships or bursaries, is typically sent out approximately two weeks after the assessment. To accept the offer, you will be asked to pay a deposit of £750.
Mount House School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Mount House School 11+ entrance examination consists of the following tests:
- Reasoning (Verbal and Non-Verbal)
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily designed to test and assess their logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning test measures their ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, assessing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
