Monkton Combe School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

Scholarships are a recognition of excellence in a particular area and are decided on by The Head / Principal. The main benefit of a scholarship at Monkton is access to the excellence programme in the relevant subject, and in return, the pupil commits to serving as an ambassador for that subject.

Scholarships provide a £1,000 fee discount. They may cover the following areas: Academia, Art & Design, Drama, Music and Sport.

The Monktonian Award is awarded to pupils who think differently, are enthusiastic about learning and have the qualities of a natural leader. Candidates who have a wide range of skills that do not reach the standard of a scholarship can apply for the Monktonian Award.

For families unable to pay the full fees, Monkton makes bursary awards following the provision of detailed financial records. Special consideration is given to holders of scholarships and the children of clergy and missionaries, in accordance with Monkton’s charitable objectives. If you are in need of financial assistance, you should notify the Registrar at the earliest opportunity, prior to registering your child.

If a bursary and scholarship are awarded to the same pupil, the scholarship is subsumed into the bursary. Note that the bursary will never be reduced below the level of the original scholarship.
