The Year 7 curriculum includes MFL, DT, music, food technology, art, Humanities, maths, English, science and games. As part of the co-curricular programme, the school runs an impressive number of activities and clubs, such as the Art club, Coding club, French club, LAMDA, STEM group, Sustainability club and World cinema club.
Oriented towards maintaining the relationships between pupils and their families, Maida Vale School vows to provide emotional support and security for all pupils via individual attention and strong communication between the school and parents. Each pupil will be appointed a Personal Tutor, who will remain with them throughout their time at school, as someone who’s responsible for providing appropriate care and support at all times.

Open Events at Maida Vale School will offer families the opportunity to meet staff, hear a presentation from the Headmaster and Directors and tour the school. During the events, you and your child will be able to learn more about the subjects and extra-curricular activities on offer.
Maida Vale School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
The admissions process formally begins once you complete and submit the Registration Form and pay the registration fee. The deadline for registrations is in December of the year preceding entry. You will then be contacted by the Admissions Registrar with a date for an interview and assessment.
Note that a confidential reference from your child’s current school will be requested, together with internal assessment results.
The interview will be conducted by the Headmaster or Senior staff member and will be informal in nature. The 11+ assessment will take place in January and will examine skills in two areas of the curriculum.
Offers of places will be sent out by post by mid-February. To accept an offer, you will be asked to complete an Acceptance Form and pay a deposit. The deadline date for acceptance of 11+ offers is in early March of the calendar year of entry.
Prior to starting in September, your child will be invited to attend a Taster Day in June, during which they will meet staff members and fellow classmates.

The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
