Introduction
Leweston School is an independent day and boarding school near Sherborne in Dorset. Founded as St Antony’s school in 1891 by the Sisters of Christian Instruction, Leweston is co-educational from Nursery to Sixth Form.
In Year 7, pupils follow a wide-ranging curriculum which comprises English, maths, biology, chemistry, physics, history, geography, religious studies, ICT, MFL, art & design, Latin, music, home economics, music, performing arts, PE and PSHE.
Encouraged to take part in a number of activities outside their normal academic, musical and sporting commitments, pupils at Leweston choose from over 50 different activities, clubs and societies each term.
Through the provision of the highest quality of teaching and learning, in line with the aspirations of each pupil, the school fosters intellectual curiosity and a life-long love of learning. Open Events for Leweston School 11 Plus (11+) Entry

Leweston School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Pupils who wish to join Leweston in Year 7 are invited to an activity day when they are in Year 5. The event offers a great opportunity to experience a fun day at the school and meet some of the other pupils who may be joining the same year group.
Registration should be completed early on, around two years before your child joins Year 7. This includes a payment of a £100 registration fee, which is non-refundable.
All 11+ candidates will sit an online test in November of Year 6. There’s also Assessment Day, held in January of Year 6, during which your child will enjoy some fun group activities on Leweston’s campus.
Places are secured with a payment of an acceptance deposit. Please note that parents are also expected to sign a contract and complete an acceptance form.
Leweston School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
At 11+, the school offers Academic, Art & Design, Equestrian, Music, Drama, Pentathlon and Sports Scholarships. These awards are not means-tested, and candidates can only apply for one.
Academic Scholarships are offered to pupils who have excelled in the entrance examinations. The remaining awards are allocated following success in separate assessments. For more details, please follow this link or contact the school directly.
Leweston School also provides means-tested bursaries to children from low-income families. These awards are subject to annual review and your child must be registered with the school in order to be considered.
Bursary awards typically cover 10-20% of the current day fees, or up to 40% in exceptional circumstances. Sibling discounts are also available, as are Forces Discounts.

The Leweston School 11+ entrance examination consists of the following assessment:
- ISEB Common Pretest
The online ISEB Pretest examines your child’s ability in skills such as numeracy, problem solving and vocabulary, with emphasis on how they think and respond to the curriculum. The test consists of modules testing Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
