Before being offered a place at King’s Worcester, all candidates are required to undertake entrance tests and attend an interview. For year 7 entry, the examinations are set in January.

The school will also take into account a written reference, requested from your child’s current school Head, in order to better assess their academic ability, attitude, behaviour, involvement in the school community, talents and interests.

If the school is oversubscribed and has to decide between two or more candidates who meet all admission requirements, preference will be given to:

  • a child who already has a sibling in the school or whose parent is a former pupil
  • a child whose parent is a current staff member
  • a child with a particular skill, talent or aptitude

Scholarships are available at King’s Worcester, but they don’t exceed one third of fees in value. Some scholarships are awarded during your child’s time at the school and are purely honorary.

Your child may be awarded a joint Academic and Music Scholarship, but only if the combined awards are not worth more than a total of one third of fees.

The value of scholarships may be supplemented by a bursary. The school has a Bursary fund which grants financial support each year. All grants are means-tested and subject to annual review.

Bursary applications should be made between November and early January. Note that only  registered candidates will be considered eligible. For more information, please reach out to the Registrar.
