King’s Ely Junior School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

If you wish your child to apply for Year 7 entry, you should register them via a Registration Form available on the school’s website.

They will then be invited to partake in Taster Days – informal events which help the child learn more about the life of a King’s Ely student. To book a place, please fill in the form available on the school’s website or reach out to Admissions

All registered children will then be invited to sit an online assessment in January. Alongside these tests, your child will take the Lucid dyslexia screening test and attend an informal interview with the Head. They will be asked to bring in an item to discuss during the interview.

Children will be assigned a buddy for the day and partake in lessons and activities following the assessments.

Offers are usually made at the beginning of February and should be accepted by the first Monday in March. Waiting list candidates will be informed via email of the availability of places, however, a candidate’s position on the waiting list will not be revealed.

Although scholarships are not available for Year 7 students, means-tested financial support may be applied to new candidates. The school offers Entrance and Hardship Bursaries via Bursary Administration Limited (BAL), who interview and assess each new applicant by visiting their home, assimilating the information into a short, factual report and summarising the financial information from each application. Based on this data, the school’s Bursary Committee decides on whether to make an award.

Household income will be taken into account along with the value of monthly commitments, investments, equity value in the home and level of mortgage. The Bursary award may cover up to 100% of fees (in exceptional circumstances).

A Bursary application can be submitted only after the child is fully registered through the normal Admissions process. For more information, please visit the school’s website.
