Introduction
Kensington Preparatory School is an independent day school for girls in Fulham, London. Founded by the Girls’ Public Day School Company, now known as GDST, it began admitting pupils in 1873. [1]
The curriculum is characterised by strong academic provision. However, staff allocate equal amounts of time to the teaching of music, sport, art, ICT, drama, DT, Spanish and philosophy, with the latter being introduced very early on (whilst girls are still in Year 1).
Extracurricular activities include trips and tours to locations such as Venice, Budapest and Amsterdam, whilst after-class clubs aim to engage intellectually curious girls in a number of opportunities, covering everything from chess and cricket to coding and football.

Open Events for Kensington Prep School 7 Plus (7+) Entry
Open Days are held in May/June in the Summer and September/October in the Autumn term of the year preceding entry. During these, the school’s staff welcome prospective families on campus, allowing them to meet the Head and tour the school’s facilities.
Kensington Prep School 7 Plus (7+) Admissions
7+ is not a formal entry point for the school. Thus, parents are encouraged to reach out to the Registrar to learn if there are places available.
Following the assessments your daughter will be invited to take, you will be notified in writing whether or not a place has been offered. Please note that, to accept an offer, you will be asked to pay a £1000 deposit. More details are available here.

Kensington Prep School 7 Plus (7+) Exam Format
The Kensington Prep School 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:
- English
- Mathematics
- Reasoning
The English assessment examines comprehension and writing skills, including spelling, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and oral skills.
The Maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including her knowledge of times tables.
The Verbal Reasoning section of the Reasoning test is designed to test and assess your daughter’s logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning section of the Reasoning test measures her ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, testing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
